Worcester's champion:

  • for liberty and democracy

  • for a sensible European relationship and a new sustainable economy

  • for a protected National Health Service and properly funded essential public services

  • for high quality education for all

  • for a realistic immigration policy

I am a conviction politician who has always worked with people to build a politics of compassion, hope and optimism.

Stephen Kearney

I reject the politics of greed, jealousy, hatred and pessimism

I love people, I love Worcester and I am committed to taking steps that can help to change the way we do politics in this country.

As a child growing up in Worcester I was taught to respect family, community and our elected representatives. Proud and excited, I met our MP in Westminster and watched proceedings in the chamber from the public gallery. I even argued with my brother and sisters about who chose the TV channel when Panorama was on!

Politicians now have lost respect - and trust. Some are simply too frightened to stand their ground under intense pressure from the party whip and big business party donors. They appear not to listen to people but just plough on with their own agendas. Regardless of impact, they protect their position, power and income .....so the public switch off. People lose interest and the result is a power vaccuum.

This is dangerous for our democracy and our communities.

Many incredible and public spirited individuals stand for office at every level: they work hard and fight tirelessly for their communities. These champions are trapped in a political system that has failed and is now collapsing.

In the last 10 years our leaders have badly let us down: our countries have been left polluted, exploited, divided and insecure. This must change.

If elected I will seek to model and create opportunities for us to completely change the way we run our city and our country.

In the run up to the snap election on June 8th 2017 I aim to ensure that the whole community truly has an opportunity to be heard in the Guildhall, in Westminster and in Europe.

I will seek to give every person a real opportunity to work with me and take action to build a movement in our city for our city. I will systematically listen to people - to build trust, respectful relationships and deeper understanding, and to find the citizens who want to work with me to build a sustainable society and economy. Together we will sow the seeds for dialogue in our great city, being an example that others may want to follow.

Worcester's historic battles laid foundations for our country's governance. Once again we face enormous problems locally and nationally. A politician that says that they will do it all for you, or give the people all they want - is deliberately or naively misleading. Party policies and ideologies have failed the electorate time and time again.

It is time for a different model.
